Making things fly —
digitally and physically.

Software engineer with a decade-plus shipping Android and AI-integrated apps at scale, now pursuing entrepreneurial work. Equally at home in code, in the cockpit, and under an airframe — instrument-rated pilot and hands-on builder of an experimental aircraft. I'm drawn to hard problems that cross software, hardware, and the physical world.

Tech Lead Manager

Google · Mountain View, CA
  • Eng manager and lead IC across a portfolio of Pixel apps — Google Clock, Google Calculator, Pixel Recorder, and Pixel Weather — driving roadmap planning, cross-functional prioritization and feature feasibility, and delivery timelines, while staying hands-on in engineering design and owning features as an IC.
  • Led Pixel Recorder's public Play Store debut and its on-device AI — the first on-device LLM feature shipped at Google and a phone-industry first — partnering with Google DeepMind and several Pixel teams to run Gemini Nano entirely on-device, summarizing recordings fully privately with no network — work recognized with a Google Tech Impact Award.
  • Drove Pixel Weather's public launch, differentiating it from entrenched incumbents with a distinctive interactive weather map, more accurate data, a more intuitive at-a-glance reporting display, and AI-generated weather summaries.

Software Engineer

Google
  • TL of the Android Settings team: architected a Settings item-injection system — adopted by virtually every Android OEM — that lets manufacturers fully customize the Settings UI and information architecture for their own branding while staying CTS-compliant. Much of the work is public in AOSP.
  • Founded Settings Intelligence — a closed-source Google binary that ships on Pixel to bring AI-powered features to the open-source AOSP Settings app.
  • Founding engineer on the Personal Safety app (Pixel-first, now across the Android ecosystem): emergency calling, real-time location sharing with emergency contacts, and medical-info sharing when help is needed.
  • IC on the Google+ Android app: worked on code restructure for performance and modularization, and helped launch the Collections feature.

Sling TSi build — riveted aluminum control surface

Sling TSi Build

N532SL

A hands-on, multi-year build of a Sling TSi experimental aircraft with a Rotax 915iS engine — 1,000+ hours over three years and counting. One of the most demanding things I've taken on, drawing on aviation hardware, automotive-derived powerplant systems, electronic and avionics engineering, hands-on fabrication and mechanics, and the piloting skills to test-fly what I build.
